Homeschooling Online - Beginning The Process of Scheduling Lessons
It is quite possible that the biggest challenge a homeschooling parent faces is how to make a daily and weekly schedule for homeschooling their children. Fortunately, a little research show that there are many ideas from veteran homeschooling parents regarding how they handle this particular issue. Some parents choose to use software programs such as Microsoft Word or Excel. Others prefer to simply write everything down in a traditional notebook.
Furthermore, some homeschooling parents choose to plan each day as it goes while others plan several days in advance. Perhaps the best way to plan is actually a mixture of these two. Planning ahead while allowing room for daily adjustments may just be the most practical and comfortable way to approach home school planning.
So, when it comes to developing your homeschooling schedule, where should you start?
First, you should make a goal plan that outlines your overall list of goals for the year. To aid in this process, you could search out different books on setting goals by using the internet or visiting your local library. It will be important that you lay out specific and measurable goals as you will want to be able to accurately evaluate whether those goals have been met.
Once your goals are clearly defined, you will want to take these goals and use them to help evaluate what books and curriculum should be used. To help with this, you will want to fill out a curriculum planner. In addition, it is wise to avoid curriculum fairs at this point as they can tend to confuse you if you are not exactly sure of what you are looking for.
Throughout this entire process, it is important to keep in mind that patience and determination will be needed. For the novice homeschooling parent, the process can seem overwhelming. However, with a focused effort you will be able to define your goals, choose the right materials and begin scheduling your lesson plans.
In future posts, we will go into more detail on this process. Hope you enjoy!
